The Ferrari 575 Superamerica was introduced in 2005 as a limited production convertible version of the successful 575M. A limited series of 559 Superamerica’s were built worldwide and just 63 of these exceptionally rare cars were allocated as RHD and destined for UK delivery.
The party trick of the 575 Superamerica was the highly advanced ‘Revocromico’ carbon fibre and glass roof. The glass panel of the roof utilises a world first electrochromic glass technology meaning that the driver can control the amount of light allowed into the cockpit at the touch of a button on the centre console. There are five different levels of glass tint to choose from and the glass can change from fully clear to dark in less than a minute!
The roof also sported a unique rearward rotation movement that sees the roof rotate 180 degrees on a single axis. This means that when the roof is down the rear window acts as a wind deflector. The roof transforms from a hard top to a targa convertible in just 7 seconds.
For the Superamerica, power from the 5.7 litre V12 was upped to 540bhp, these upgraded engines could be visually differentiated from a standard 575 engine by the striking red paint on the intake manifolds instead of grey as standard on the 575M.
This example is very desirably specified in Grigio Titanio over a Cuoio leather interior, as far as our research shows this is the only car in the world in this specification. Having covered a fraction over 10,000 miles from new this is a usable and extremely tasteful example of Ferrari’s most premium offering in 2006.
