A beautifully preserved Californian Coupe. With just one owner for 45 years, this charming 3.8-litre Series 1 Coupe has covered a mere 56,874 miles.
Dispatched from a wintery Browns Lane in late November 1963 this Jaguar E-Type was destined for the far more hospitable climate of Los Angeles, and was delivered to its first owner just a stone’s throw from Hollywood. In Tinsel Town’s golden age, where fellow E-Type owners included the world’s greatest A-listers, the owner of this Coupe must have felt a part of a deeply exclusive club.
In 2011, after an incredible 45-year single ownership, the E-Type was sold back to England to just its second owner. Its time spent in the Californian sun had preserved the body in superb corrosion-free condition and upon its repatriation the E-Type required only a sympathetic re-commission.
While beautifully revitalised with a repaint in the original Cream and reupholstered in Red, the all-original under bonnet finishes have been carefully preserved and provide an evocative reminder of this car’s originality. During the refresh the matching numbers engine received attention too, although the exceptional low mileage had reduced the necessities to little more than a conscientious freshen up.
The combination of consistent ownership and the Californian climate have made for a very fine E-Type Coupe indeed.
As a sister company of Eagle E-Types, Historic Classics is able to offer the next owner the exclusive opportunity to incorporate some subtle reliability upgrades to continue using this charming original E-Type with a little more peace of mind.
